Inspired by
small size terracotta and bronze antique Roman statuary, as well
as the eminently pagan tradition of Renaissance small bronzes, Franz
Fenris G. also sometimes tackles the male figure. In these works where
nothing is left to be hidden, one is confronted to the strength of a
silent cry by means of the metaphorical use of the ithyphalle, or to
some inner pain expressed by the wrung aspect of the bodies. Here are
the landmarks of a progression which, should it be carried on, will
perhaps soften into a more elegant (mannerist ?) contrapposto.
